Situated in the community of Tagliolo, Gazzeri, Residence & Country house rises up from the soft slopes of the ‘Capaanne Marcarolo’ Natural Park on the monferrina hilltop. This lowland area of Piedmont, where the Appennini act as a link between Piedmont and Liguria, is characterized by the union of the ‘Alto Monferrato’ region and the ‘Oltregiogo’ which, in the past, created a hinterland; an area of summer residences for the Genovese nobility of the period. The importance of the area is testified in the nearby small picturesque hamlets, with their magnificent castles and fortresses, as well as through the architecture and buildings of the larger noteworthy centres: Ovada, Gavi and Novi Ligure. A further tribute to the importance of the area throughout history remains evident today in the food and wine of this region, characterised by the typical distinct flavours of the Ligure – Piemontese cuisine. Evidence of the wealth and the importance of the landscape of the Monferrato together with those of the Langhes and of the Roero regions from an environmental and historical point of view, is demonstrated by having conferred upon the region the prestigious title ‘World Heritage’ being recognised by UNESCO.

The ‘Alto Monferrato’ is the area that, together with ‘Basso Monferrato’ and ‘Monferrato Astigiano’, form the Monferrato Piemontese, an historic-geographical region in the Piedmont lowlands, taking in the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, and reaching up to the borders of Liguria and Lombardy. The historical importance of this strategic territory is shown by the magnificent castles of medieval times, and not only these, but also the surrounding villages and hamlets that tower up on the tops of the hills thus becoming a distinctively integral part of this region,: the legendary " suolo Aleramico" quoted by Giosuè Carducci "(...) and the exultant one of castles and vineyards of the land of Aleramo (...) " in the entitled poetry "Piedmont".
